About Nicola Mason (née Rooke)
Since spending my gap year as a working pupil for Caroline Powell in 2008, I have strived to learn as much as I can about producing and managing event horses. I followed this up with 5 years working as a rider for the late Matthew Wright. Both of these roles gave me the chance to work with horses from 3yos to Olympic horses, including grooming at Burghley. I also took the opportunity to go to Germany with my horse "Foreign Encounter" and train with Dirk Schrade in the winter of 2013.
These experiences all equipped me to set up my own business in 2015 producing and competing event horses. In the following years I campaigned Foreign Encounter at Bramham 4*S, Blenheim 4*L, Hartpury 4*S, and internationally at Boekelo 4*L.
In this time I have built up a fantastic team of owners, and continue to have much success at BE and FEI on a range of other horses coming through the grades. In the winter months I enjoy field mastering for the Middleton Hunt which provides excellent exposure for the younger event horses.
I strive to do the best job I can, and train regularly with top coaches such as Christopher Bartle to achieve this. I enjoy working with horses at all levels, the young horses are very rewarding, but I am also driven to compete at the top levels of the sport.
